FAQs

Is sending a text message like sending an email?

There are two ways to send a text message; SMPP and SMTP.  The major difference is the wireless carriers are not legally obligated to provide reporting or deliver messages sent via SMTP.  Thus, you should always use a service provider who sends only SMPP messages, like SMS Political.  You also have a different set of rules and guidelines to follow when sending a text message.  The maximum characters a client can use is 140 including spaces as we reserve the last 20 characters for a mandatory compliance opt out message.

If I just have a cell phone number how do I know what wireless carrier services it?

A term you should learn is called “real time carrier routing” this will enable the text message to be routed to the correct carrier at the very moment you want to send the message.  Using this technology will always provide the highest number of messages delivered successfully.
